Direct Access Mastercard Rebates

In The Closet
Remember The Time
Black or White
Who Is It
Give In To Me
Keep The Faith
Dangerous

只有一首“Man in The Mirror”听了会有一种莫名感动。

Izzi?

“With the GSC-EON Bank Visa credit card, we are reinforcing our strong commitment to continuously introduce more benefits and value adds to our loyal customers. These are to ensure that movie fans will not be deprived of great entertainment either during the good times as we celebrate with friends and family, or during tougher times, when we can retreat into the world of fantasy, action or comedy for a short respite,” added Ms Koh.

Canonical Announces Availability of Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition

LONDON, April 20, 2009 – Canonical, the commercial sponsor of Ubuntu, announced today that Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition is free to download from Thursday 23 April. Also announced were the simultaneous releases of Ubuntu 9.04 Server Edition and Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix (UNR)

Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition delivers a range of feature enhancements to improve the user experience. Shorter boot speeds, some as short as 25 seconds, ensure faster access to a full computing environment on most desktop, laptop and netbook models. Enhanced suspend-and-resume features also give users more time between charges along with immediate access after hibernation. Intelligent switching between Wi-Fi and 3G environments has been broadened to support more wireless devices and 3G cards, resulting in a smoother experience for most users.

Jane Silber, COO, Canonical, says: “With every release, we see Ubuntu Desktop Edition make significant steps forward in appealing to mainstream computer users. With access to the latest office productivity suite, support for Skype and Adobe Flash, and faster boot times, we're confident that Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition will see more people join millions of others and make the switch to an open platform."

Ubuntu 9.04 features OpenOffice.org 3.0. This gives users a complete office suite that is entirely compatible with Microsoft Office. This free office software provides an immediate saving of at least $200 for users who need to create presentations, write documents or manage spreadsheets at work or at home.

A new integrated notification system appears in Ubuntu 9.04 for the first time. This system combines the notification methods of various applications and presents that information in a simple, unobtrusive manner. New icons and artwork also appear in this release, part of the continual improvement of the Ubuntu user experience.

    Availability

Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition is available from 23 April 2009. Get your copy by:

OPEC Will Consider ‘All Options’ as Oil Demand Extends Slide

    By Fred Pals

March 13 (Bloomberg) -- OPEC will probably opt for a combination of a production cut and greater compliance at this weekend’s meeting in Vienna, Venezuela’s oil minister said, as the group predicted demand will extend its slide.

“We have to insist on higher compliance of the cuts, which we believe has been good, but needs to be completed,” Rafael Ramirez said in an interview as he arrived for the March 15 meeting. “We have to look at the fundamentals of the market and the macro economic situation. It is very complicated.”

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries will review output against a backdrop of an economic slump that’s kept oil below $50. Members are still implementing 4.2 million barrels a day of reductions agreed on last year in an attempt to support prices.

“There is a risk of over-tightening and the last thing the global economy needs is a spike in oil prices,” Francisco Blanch, head of global commodity research at Merrill Lynch & Co., said in a Bloomberg Television interview. “OPEC should not think about cutting more until they meet their quotas.”

Kuwaiti Oil Minister Sheikh Ahmed al-Abdullah al-Sabah said “all options are on the table” at the meeting.

“We don’t want to hurt the international economy, but at the same we don’t won’t to hurt ourselves,” he said in an interview at Vienna airport today. “It is a very difficult equation. It is still undecided.”

Crude oil futures traded at $46.23 a barrel in New York today. Prices have risen 3.7 percent this year.

    Demand Forecasts

The International Energy Agency and OPEC cut their 2009 forecasts for oil demand for a seventh month today and reduced supply estimates as the global economic slump saps consumption as well as investment in new fields.

Both organizations see demand slumping by more than 1 million barrels a day this year. The Paris-based IEA, adviser to 28 nations, reduced its forecast to 84.4 million barrels a day, a decline of 1.25 million barrels from 2008. OPEC’s estimate dropped to 84.6 million barrels, down 1.01 million barrels.

OPEC implemented about 79 percent of planned output cuts amounting to a record 4.2 million barrels a day to stem falling prices, according to the group’s monthly report.

Oil inventories are “above average” and Venezuela is seeking a price floor of $70 a barrel, Ramirez said. Venezuela has cut production by more than 300,000 barrels a day, he said.

    Analyst Survey

In a Bloomberg survey, 31 of 41 analysts said OPEC will limit output for the fourth time next week. Of those, 13 expect a reduction of 500,000 to 1 million barrels a day, 12 say 1 million barrels and two estimated 1.5 million. The rest declined to provide an estimate. Ten of the 41 analysts anticipated no change. The analysts were surveyed on March 3 and March 4.

Hannes Loacker, an analyst at Raiffeisen Zentralbank Oesterreich, said a compromise could be a relatively small cut of 500,000 barrels a day, “otherwise, there will be a negative market reaction.”

Algerian Energy Minister Chakib Khelil said two days ago in Algiers that he thought OPEC will likely reduce production, saying “the market expects a reduction and we have to reduce otherwise prices will fall.”

Chamber: Help Bumi Traders Overcome Crisis

KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 (Bernama) -- The Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia has requested the government set up a RM2 billion fund to help Bumiputera entrepreneurs ride out the current economic slowdown.

Its deputy president, Datuk Muhammad Muhiyuddin Abdullah, said the fund could be the same as Entrepreneur Recovery Fund, which was handled by Bank Negara Malaysia during the previous economic crisis.

He said the Entrepreneur Recovery Fund helped entrepreneurs recover especially those who faced difficulties getting financial assistance from the banks.

He said this at the annual general meeting of the Kuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of Commerce here today.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Amirsham A. Aziz, officiated at the meeting.

Muhammad Muhiyuddin said the request was forwarded to Second Finance Minister, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, two months ago.

"It is hoped that the request would be accepted and will be part of the mini budget that would be tabled in Parliament next week," he said.

Pioneer CD Receiver in my car

Toll Rates For Five Highways Will Be Increased On March 1

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Toll rates for five highways will be increased from between 0.68 to 50 sen effective March 1, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed.

Mohd Zin said the increase was in accordance with the concession signed between the government and the respective highway concessionaires.

They are the North South Highway (PLUS), SPRINT (Kerinchi Link and Damansara Link), Ampang Kuala Lumpur elevated highway (AKLEH), Sungai Besi Highway (BESRAYA) and New Pantai Expressway (NPE).

Rates for Federal Highway Route 2 linking Batu 3, Shah Alam to Sungai Rasau, Klang and the North South Expressway would be increased from 13.60 per km to 14.28 sen per km, however it does not cover Bukit Kayu Hitam, Tambak Johor and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar.

Toll rates for SPRINT, AKLEH, BESRAYA, and NPE will see an increase between 10 sen and 50 sen.

For SPRINT, the increase is 50 sen at Pantai toll plaza and 30 sen at Damansara toll plaza, AKLEH toll rates will be increased by 50 sen, BESRAYA by 10 sen and NPE by 40 sen.

He added that toll rates for PLUS, SPRINT and AKLEH were supposed to have been increased starting Jan 1, 2008 but was delayed for 14 months and it cost the government RM245m in compensation.

PLUS was paid RM177 million, SPRINT received RM38 million while another RM30 million was paid out to AKLEH, he said.

The Works Minister added that the increase in toll rates was approved by the cabinet, following an appeal by the concessionaires.

He added that since the concession for toll, signed between the government and concessionaire, has become a public documents, the public can view such documents to see for themselves, the details contained in the agreements.

Oral Hygiene: Don't Just Brush Your Teeth

    By Nurul Halawati Mohamad Azhari

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Don't take for granted that brushing your teeth would suffice in ensuring good oral hygiene as the teeth only covers 23 percent of the oral cavity.

Even for those brushing their teeth at least twice daily, the regime only helps to clean one fourth of the oral cavity excluding the tight gaps between the teeth and the difficult to reach spots.

Thus, it is evident that brushing your teeth alone will not help in preventing the formation of bacterial plaques on the teeth and gums that contributes to tooth decay and gum diseases.

That is why flossing to remove food residues between the teeth and disinfecting the whole oral cavity with an antiseptic mouthwash are highly recommended.

The floss helps to clean between teeth where the toothbrush cannot reach while the antiseptic mouthwash helps disinfect the teeth and the whole oral cavity, and prevents bad breath.

    DOING IT THE RIGHT WAY

According to the Malaysian Dental Association President Dr S. Sivanesan, a number of studies conducted in several developed nations confirmed that most individuals failed to maintain sufficient oral hygiene levels to prevent the formation of plaque though they brushed their teeth daily.

"This may be because they brushed their teeth in the wrong manner", explained Sivanesan.

He noted that, in Malaysia, dental care has evolved from managing toothache to preventing them in the first place. The two compelling reasons for the lost of teeth is decay and gum disease due to poor oral hygiene.

Nevertheless, both problems can be reduced and even completely eliminated by maintaining proper oral hygiene and by consulting a dentist at regular intervals.

"The patient too can help reduce the periodontic disease risks by eliminating the accumulation of plaque. This can be done routinely by brushing and flossing the teeth and rinsing the mouth with antiseptic liquids", he explained when launching the Your Complete Oral Care with Mouthwash campaign at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa recently.

VISIT A DENTIST EVERY SIX MONTHS

According to Dr Sivanesan, the dental health practitioners were responsible in spreading the message on dental care and encourage people to adopt the right attitude in taking care of the oral health.

"We are also responsible in ensuring patients come for check-ups once every six months and recommend to them methods to maintain or improve their oral health", he added.

According to Johnson & Johnson's senior Manager for Professional Affairs, Dr.Arunee Unsook, brushing your teeth alone would not suffice in ensuring overall oral hygiene.

"This is especially when looking at the fact that the average brushing time for an adult is 37 seconds only".

He explained that 79 percent of dental patients have never flossed their teeth while 50 percent of the adults suffered from gingivitis in at least two of three of their teeth.

"Gingivitis is the early stage of gum disease due to accumulation of plaque. This disease can be avoided by using antiseptic mouthwash", he added.

    MALAYSIAN TOUR

A study in Malaysia on adult oral health conducted in year 2000 revealed that in general those above 15 were enjoying better oral health very much due to the fluoride added in the water supply.

Nonetheless, there are still serious problems in dental care like the lack of sufficient resources in providing dental care, information on dental care and tooth extraction.

Under the National Oral Health Plan, it is hoped that Malaysians will achieve optimal oral health by 2010 with the emphasis on reducing dental caries and periodontic diseases.

In efforts to educate Malaysians on the right oral healthcare, Johnson & Johnson that markets the antiseptic mouthwash Listerine with the cooperation of Malaysian Dental Association has embarked on an awareness campaign from February to June that brushing one's teeth would not suffice and mouthwash should be part of the routine.

No Sugar Price Hike - Shahrir

PETALING JAYA, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- There will be no increase in the price of sugar in the near future, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad announced Monday.

Retailers should therefore refrain from hiking the price until the ministry decide on the matter.

"There is no hike in the price but there may be a slight increase in the price of sugar in certain retail shops, especially those which obtained supplies from bigger shops.

"This is because they cannot sell the item at the stipulated price," he told reporters after launching Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad's price-reduction campaign at the Nestle Manufacturing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, here.

He said that many small retailers on the outskirts of Selangor and the Federal Territories were selling sugar between RM1.50 and RM1.70 per kilogram.

The price of sugar is fixed at RM1.45 per kg and the last time the price was reviewed was three years ago.

Shahrir was quoted as saying on Jan 20 that the price of sugar might be increased after the Chinese New Year due to its higher price in the international market.

Malaysia is importing up to 90 per cent of its sugar supply.

When told that some traders had already increased the sugar price following his announcement in January, Shahrir said, the government would monitor the situation and would take action against those doing so indiscriminately.

Meanwhile, Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad is embarking on a price reduction campaign since Feb 16. Under the campaign, the price of the Milo product is now lower by between 6.4 and 8.6 per cent.

There were no price reductions for dairy products such as Everyday, Nespray and Nesvita as well as Maggie but consumers would be given extra content of between 8 and 12 per cent.

Present were Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad managing director Sullivan O'Carroll and Shahrir's deputy, Jelaing Mersat.
